Absolutely. This was the right move. Marty deserves it.

Marty does deserve it. I would have liked Stamkos as well. I really thought Marty would pass the C to Stamkos on his own, it always seemed like Marty didn't want the C in years past.

This is why I didn't want it to be Stamkos. Getting the 'A' switched to a 'C' just seems like so much work...

Marty does deserve it. I would have liked Stamkos as well. I really thought Marty would pass the C to Stamkos on his own, it always seemed like Marty didn't want the C in years past.

i think having St Louis to mentor him for another few years will only do good things for Stamkos. lets also keep in mind he's still only 23 so letting him develop more without that pressure is probably optimal

Sounds huge, but in today's market it's hard to argue that he's not worth every penny. You never know though. Maybe he takes a bit of a discount.
